John holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and trains under Professor João Gabriel Rocha at Alliance Dallas — one of the most decorated BJJ competitors of his generation. He also holds a brown belt in Judo under Sensei Russ Hogan at Eastside Dojo.

He came to martial arts as an adult with no prior grappling background and built his game from scratch. That experience — knowing exactly what it feels like to start from zero — shapes how he teaches. He doesn't assume. He explains.

In 2023, John opened Motus Jiu-Jitsu in McKinney to bring structured, high-quality BJJ instruction to the community he lives in. He's on the mat for every single class. Outside the gym, he runs a talent agency in Dallas.
